The last qualifier for the 2012 Swedish Championship has ended with SK Gaming winning 2-1 over fnatic to take home 3,000SEK.
Stockholm Esport Arena played host to the last qualifier for Esport SM, which is the Swedish Championship. Eight teams via online qualifiers made it to this event, including the giants SK Gaming and fnatic.
Both of the teams passed the group stage and the semi-finals without breaking a sweat, putting them up against each other in the final. Qualifying for the final meant both teams secured a spot for the Swedish Championship, played at DreamHack Summer. The final would determine seed, as well as who would win a majority of the 5,000SEK prize purse.
The clash of the titans did not disappoint, as overtime was needed already on first map de_tuscan. SK took first half of the overtime 2-1, but fnatic topped that by winning three rounds straight to win first map 19-17.
Second map de_train saw SK stomp fnatic. First half with SK on the CT side went 13-2 in their favor and they went on to win the Terrorists pistol and the following two rounds for a 16-2 victory.
Moving on to the third map de_dust2, fnatic started on the CT side, and quickly racked up a lot of rounds. With their early success, fnatic managed to pull off a 10-5 lead. After the side change, SK managed to replicate what fnatic did in the first half, as they went up 9-0 as CT.
For some time it looked like SK had the map, as fnatic simply couldn’t win rounds as Terrorists. With SK on match point, fnatic laid their hands on the remaining two rounds of the regular thirty rounds to force overtime.
In overtime SK were fnatic superior, winning 2-1 and 2-0 to win 19-16, 2-1 overall for the victory at Esport SM Stockholm, their first event victory since the return of Marcus "Delpan" Larsson.
